Crime reporter, author to discuss serial killer search on Sept. 26

Sep 15, 2017

Maureen Boyle will discuss and sign copies of her new book, “Shallow Graves: The Hunt for the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer” on Sept. 26 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Wareham Free Library. The event is free and open to the public.

Boyle first broke the story as a reporter in 1988 and stayed with it for decades. In the book, she spins a narrative about the crimes, the victims, the hunt for the killers, and the search for justice, all played out against the backdrop of an increasingly impoverished community beset by drugs and crime.

Drawing on more than 100 interviews, along with police reports, first-person accounts, and field reporting both during the killings and more recently, the book brings the reader behind the scenes of the investigation, onto the streets of the city, and into the homes of the families still hoping for answers.
