Wareham Police say a Westfield woman's alleged shoplifting attempt on Wednesday at the Family Dollar Store in Wareham Plaza marked the tenth time she was charged with the crime.

Jayne Decoste, 55, of Westfield was arrested after allegedly stuffing $70 worth of merchandise into a backpack at approximately 8:30 p.m. Within a short period of time, officers found her in the plaza, and the stolen items were recovered from her backpack.

Police said Decoste also had nine outstanding warrants for shoplifting charges in courts across the state.

Warrants had been issued by Massachusetts district courts in Holyoke, Brookline, Springfield, Westfield, Quincy, and Hingham.

Decoste is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge of shoplifting, 10th subsequent offense, this morning at Wareham District Court.

So glad they caught this thug! Dollar store ? Kleptomaniac should have gone to CVS and lifted some hair color. Hard to blend into the crowd when you look like a wet skunk.  Why do they always find their way to Wareham?

Good Lord, I just keep asking myself the same thing. Why do we get all the winners?  55 year old compulsive shoplifter.  Stealing $70 worth of Family Dollar crap is something you'd expect of a rebellious 16 year old that wasn't hugged enough.

Wareham By the Sea, I ask the same question . How does a winner from Westfield end up in Wareham ? My quess is that this poor woman who's down on her luck applied for emergency shelter with the wonderful commonwealth and she was going anted asylum in one of the wonderful "Welly" motels we have along cranberry highway . Shame she isn't Syrian or she would have been placed in a nice Place like the Arlington Projects .

Folklore says its the magnetic attraction from all the bog iron under Wareham.  Draws them all in and they never leave.

Swifts_sheriff you had to go there?! Unnecessary.

Yeah , I went there ...  as I tell my kids when things get tough pull up your boot straps and work harder. You do what you have to do for work as long as it's legal.  Tired of seeing able working body people collecting free hand outs .

you all are a tough act to follow! I get my laughs every morning when I read these responses. BTW, I'm with you Swifts...I'm relatively new to town but I sure see a pattern here with these headline stories...

Think she would find a better store to steal from. Laughing the dollar store, that would mean she would have to steal 70 items.. How low can you go ?

Fossil, the Family Dollar by Shaw's is a trick name.  Got me too.  Stuff is more than a dollar there.  It's the "Dollar Store" by Stop & Shop that sells everything for a dollar.

Even so, most everything at Family Dollar is cheap and sub-standard.  I can't imagine fitting $70 worth of it in a back pack.

I hear you By the Sea, Article says Family Dollar but at Wareham Plaza? since the Family Dollar is by itself, I figured they meant "The Dollar Store" either way next step down is dumpster diving.  If I was going to steal I'd go to Macy's

Got you the one by Shaw's sorry about, never been to that one.
