A pedestrian may have been struck by a car on Monday when a driver allegedly under the influence hit a parked car on Main Street.

The driver, Christine Andrews, 61, of Wareham, collided with a parked car in front of the post office. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, according to a police press release.

A 20-year-old man was lying on the ground where the car was parked.

The man, a Wareham resident, was treated by Wareham Fire Department and Wareham EMS personnel for minor scrapes and bruises.

At this time, whether the man was actually struck by the car is still under investigation.

Andrews, the only occupant of the car, was not injured and was placed under arrest, charged with OUI, reckless operation and marked lanes violations.

Hey Wareham By The Sea !!! Who made YOU GOD ?!?! and why do you always need to be so negative on this page... Remember  "But there I  but for the grace of God "

Good afternoon Onset spelled backwards,

Nobody made me God.  But if I was God I would be certain to prevent reckless drunks like this woman from having the potential to kill good people like you, me, my family, your family, and the guy that was lying on the ground.

Geeze, I'm negative out of pure frustration.  What am I supposed to write?  Would something like this be more appropriate?  "this poor 61 year old woman must be having a tough time with something in life so it's acceptable for her to drive drink, crash into a car, and possibly hit a person."

Does that sound better?  If so I can change my comment.

Gimme a break.

The Boston Globe's version is better.  They don't hesitate with negativity either when it comes to Warehamy stories. Maybe I should write for the Globe?

This is copied from the Globe:

A 61-year-old Wareham woman was allegedly drunk Monday when she plowed her vehicle into a parked car in town, in a crash that also may have injured a 20-year-old man, police said.

Christine Andrews was the sole occupant of her vehicle when it struck a parked car on Main Street around 7:30 p.m., Wareham police said in a statement.

“Upon arrival, officers noticed that a vehicle traveling on Main St. collided into the rear of a parked vehicle, which had been moved well into the roadway from a marked parking space, due to the collision impact,” the statement said. “Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.”

Cops also spotted the young Wareham man lying on the pavement. He was treated for minor scrapes and bruises.

Police said they are investigating “whether or not the male (intentionally not named at this time) was actually struck by the moving vehicle.”

Andrews wasn’t hurt, but officers determined she was intoxicated. She’s scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Wareham District Court on charges of OUI, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violations, police said. It was not immediately clear if she had retained a lawyer.

If you are ever down on yourself just go down to Wareham District Court and sit in a few courtrooms. 10 bucks says you'll come out feeling pretty good about yourself

Either that or take a ride through the Woods at Wareham.

Is this the modern version of the "stocks" where townsfolk were mocked publicly for their wrongs? People in glass houses, you without sin cast the first stone, there but the Grace of God go I. Pick one. Are you hateful toward anyone? Do you lie a little bit. Covet your neighbors house, his wife? Be careful stone throwers. I feel the temptation in myself now so I will end this here, be careful...

Come on David, when's the last time you got all liquored up on a Monday afternoon and crashed into a parked car in Wareham Center?

If we had stocks, she should be in them.  Right there downtown where she crashed would be a great spot for them.

Drunk Driving is no joke.  It's not an oversight or a mistake that can be overlooked or excused.  She deserves criticizing and punishment.

Here we go over-sensitive America !!

Certainly no joke, definitely punish her with the law! Take away her licence, she should ride the bus or a bicycle... But putting her picture up to have her bra strap ridiculed feels... "Gerry Springer-ish" to me. And comments like these from contributors that try to distance themselves from the "low lives" feels hypocritical, am I wrong here? She drives drunk and some of you are mockers. One is more dangerous for certain, both are wrong.

Public humiliation is not always wrong.

When I was in elementary school, if a kid acted up badly enough, the teachers would send him outside the classroom to sit in the "bad kid desk". All the students and teachers walking by saw.  Parents were called.  It was a bad place to end up.  As a result of the embarrassment and ridicule that those kids received, I never stepped out of line...I never sat at that desk.

Same here.  I hope she reads the comments.  I hope her husband, kids, siblings, relatives, employer, doctor, and even her pastor reads them.  Many can learn by her mistake and fear being at the bad kid desk.

The bad kid desk is a lousy place but it worked.

David, you need a snickers bar! I'm just waiting for SB to throw out his or hers signature punch line  then this thread is OVA!

No stones tossed .... She got what she deserves

Glad they caught this thug! I get that. But, I don't feel right mocking them with personal stuff.

Posted by: cranberry scoop | Sep 27, 2017 23:46

I'm wondering if there needs to be a comment section with arrests. What purpose does it serve?

Posted by: Spherebreaker | Sep 28, 2017 07:24

So glad they caught this thug. Its more than likely this will not be the last time she drives impaired. Hopefully she sees the light and stops putting other people in danger.

Cranberry, the arrest section is the most deserving of comments because it focuses negativity where it belongs.  The commenters can be a tough crowd but let's not forget that the arrested can be some pieces of work that deserve to be commented on negatively.  The shame of it may actually help some get their acts together. If comments couldn't be made on arrests, the commenters will just focus their opinions elsewhere.

Cranberry sounds like some of the people down on Swifts that witness drug activity first hand but claim they seen nothing because either they are too chicken to say something or they don't want to admit they are living trash .

Posted by: David Ricci | Sep 28, 2017 12:59

Who said they don't see drug activity down on Swifts? I have seen it out my window and called to report it many times.  Does calling help?

Posted by: David Ricci | Sep 28, 2017 13:00

Nothing against the Police I just think it might be a very looong process.

Posted by: Swifts_Sheriff | Sep 28, 2017 16:56

It isn't that long of a process ... Calling doesn't help
