Wareham Police cracking down on liquor sales to minors

Jul 02, 2018

Wareham Police will perform alcohol stings this summer in an effort to reduce sales of alcohol to minors. According to officials, there will be a zero tolerance policy for stores and restaurants selling liquor to minors. Any business or individual procuring alcohol to a minor will prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, officials said.

I know several kids who buy booze regularly from the place next to Wendys. One kid I know who is 16 says he was told by them that he needs to show an ID in case someone is watching. He uses his Bourne High student ID!

I got carded at Shaws for buying cooking wine and I'm over 50 years old. There's no excuse for selling alcohol to minors. I wish all liquor stores were banned. Alcohol is evil.

Kudos to the new acting Chief. It's nice to finally see some crackdown on the necessary situations. Everytime we see another loser caught it's a step in the right direction.  WPD is looking more impressive every day. About time.

WWareham R: I would take being carded for cooking wine as a compliment!!! Live and let live. If you don't like it, don't drink it. To call it evil is another thing. That would be called "judgement", and only applies to you.

Sammie, I wasn't offended by being carded I was trying to relate that to underage kids buying alcohol at any liquor store like Bluebell mentioned. In regard to the rest of your comment, I don't judge people who drink, my wife drinks but personally  I don't like to drink anymore  I did when I was younger and by no means had any drinking problems, except for the occasional spill on my shirt lol =), I still on occasion have a glass of wine or a cocktail at special occasions but I don't like the way I feel when I drink or the next day, even after only a couple. I also go to bars and restaurants with friends who drink and I don't care if they do or not. I'm not judging anyone, it actually is quite the opposite  you are judging me right now.

If we can't express how we feel about articles here why bother with a comment section?? If you thought it was evil and I commented saying what you said to me, how would you react? I can judge anything I want to, one of the perks of being a free thinking American. Please explain to me how me thinking alcohol is evil in anyway condemns those who do drink?

Seems to me you are trying to start some kind conflict, not me.

Have a good day.

WW Resident, you conclude your 1st comment with all liquor stores should be banned and alcohol is evil … I'd say that sounds just a bit like the ladies of the temperance league … and very judgemental. And no sire you can't judge only God can.

Bah, make it a dry town. Ban alcohol sales and consumption. Maybe we wouldn't see as many nip bottles floating down the streets.

Alcohol is the gateway...
