A three-tour combat veteran recently raised $6,000 for fellow vets with some help from the Wareham-New Bedford Lodge of Elks No. 73.

Staff Sergeant Bruce D. Harrington participated in a 40-hour, 220-mile relay race on Cape Cod on May 4. As a member of Team Ruck4Hit he helped raised funds for Heroes In Transition. The group provides service dogs for veterans living on Cape Cod.

Harrington, whose father Bruce is a distinguished member of the Elks, raised more than $6,000 for Heroes In Transition. Lodge members donated $500 to Harrington directly and raised another $624 through weekly meat raffles.
