Wareham Historical Society to host program on early Wareham industries on March 19

Mar 01, 2018

The Wareham Historical Society will host a program featuring two items with a strong connection to the town's past on March 19 at 7 p.m. in the Methodist Meeting House, 495 Main St.

A brass trolley bell from the New Bedford and Onset Street Railway and the brass steam whistle that sat atop Cape Cod Shipbuilding be on display.

Lynda Ames, local historian and genealogist, will give background information on these two pieces and also encourage a discussion about other early Wareham industries, schools and churches that used bells and whistles to alert workers and the general public of the time of day.

Refreshments will be served after the program.

Admission is free for members of the Wareham Historical Society and $2 for non-members.
