Trump correctly denounced both sides following violence in Virginia

Aug 28, 2017

To the Editor:

Hate was certainly on display by the letter writer who apparently blames President Trump for the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia on Aug. 12.  President Trump rightfully blamed and denounced both sides for the riot: Antifa, Black Lives Matter and KKK on the far left and white supremacists on the far right, with some Neo-Nazis thrown in for good measure. The writer forgets that the KKK was founded by southern Democrats and that Sen. Robert Byrd (D-West Virginia) was a Grand Kleagle and recruiter for the KKK. Hillary Clinton admits that Sen. Byrd was her mentor in the Senate. Mrs. Clinton also has stated that she admired Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, who was an avowed racist with the goal of eradicating the black race in America.

The writer says that worries about racial violence after the election of Barack Obama, the first black president, never happened. Oh, but it did, not because of his race, but because of his party. During the Obama administration, Americans elected 35 Republican governors and rejected more than a thousand Democrat legislators in state and local elections – giving the Republicans a majority in both houses of congress and the presidency.

What is happening in our country right now is a monumental “hissy fit” on the part of Democrats because their candidate lost in 2016. Like a bunch of 2 year olds, they are throwing a tantrum with their “resist” agenda to any attempt by President Trump to put Americans first. But in just six short months, the stock market has hit record highs, unemployment is at an all time low, job participation rates are rising and consumer confidence is increasing. Just imagine the prosperity we could achieve if the divisiveness, on all sides, would subside.

If not, the alternative is undoubtedly a second American Revolution, not between an oppressive Great Britain and American colonists; but between an oppressive PC culture on the left and freedom loving conservative Americans who just want to “make America great again.”

Thank you for a very well thought out post. I'm in total agreement with you. I'm registered as an independent and can see good on both sides. In the past 25 years of my life I've voted for both Democrats and Republicans but nothing has changed. For once in my life it would be nice if both sides could get together and work toward a common goal where the people of the United States would benefit.

You can't really assume that people would be so dense that they would accept such a specious statement!

Hillary is old news as is the history of both democrats and republicans.

Susan Granger, you're not witnessing a "hissy fit" by the democrats because their candidate lost the election, you're witnessing a rising of patriots, from all walks of life, that believe in equal rights for ALL Americans.

I see hissy fits and a bunch of Un-Americans that are stomping their feet and not shutting off personal feelings instead of sucking up the loss and supporting the country's president. Trump can't say anything that isn't going to offend someone.. Especially when the brainwashed only want to hear one thing.

I'm not a huge fan of the guy but he is my president so for that I'll respect his position.. That's something a lot of adult babies can't do.

It's nice to see well thought out viewpoints expressed in a intelligent and thoughtful manner. Like or dislike the expressed views, you have to give kudos to the Warehamites who have the guts to stand and exercise free-speak without one action of intollorence or violence. I for one say GO- Wareham, I like it very much.

Thank you, Susan!  I have nothing to add.  You're spot on with every point you make.

The angel says its Patriots rising when we see the terrorist groups such as the BLM and Antifa idiots. Its my observation that angel has not a clue what a Patriot is.

Of all the comments I would like to add to this topic, I am just going to (mis)quote George Bernard Shaw: " Don't wrestle with pigs; you'll both get dirty and the pig likes it."   Instead, I am going back into my world of tolerance and compassion and continue working to foster the spirit of volunteerism in this community. I am working to build a database of volunteers and people with special skills/talents who may be available for project work.  If interested, please contact me at marilyndonahue1011@gmail.com   Patriots are welcome.  Haters need not apply.

So as I see here. Wareham should put upon high actual Neo Nazis and those who believe anyone, including the majority of Wareham, should perish.

That is what was on display in Virginia. You fly a Nazi swastika? That's not free speech. You directly relate to a movement in Germany that killed millions and the world faught over.

You scream blood and Soil, you're not talking about a monument. You're vomiting rhetoric that goes against everything democracy let alone freedoms we enjoy.

Whataboutism and trying to cherry pick your history is a dumb man's game, as I'm sure you'll completely ignore actual political shifts so it fits your agenda that the kkk was started by democrats. Conservative Democrats.

This hissy fit? Did you watch the news the last 8 years? Republicans above all else created the hostile political landscape. Burning effigies of our black President and many more completely wrecking anything said or done.

I see wareham is fine with allowing tolerance on a subject that was death only too recently. Hell you had a WALL of a memorial come through that should remind you of what shouldn't be tolerated.

Yet you sit on political seats doing nothing but condoning what is being done while drinking the kool aid of your peers because you don't see what's going to happen.

I hope Wareham becomes the target of one of these "Alt Right" protests, it won't be your feared "Alt left" coming to town and you know it. It'll be your community peers who will rise against them to show that we are not tolerant of their hate speech.

Using new lingo doesn't  means you understand what's happening, only that you like spin words and exciting political drama that at one point cost more lives and families than wareham could pay for. That the United States could pay for.

Ps. The stock market is still under the Obama Administration. As The Crusty Cheeto hasn't put a budget nor... Well anything into place fiscally.

Unemployment is rampant, sorry to burst your bubble. As I've witnessed more "Looking to hire" signs at non-retail nom-fastfood businesses than ever before.

Take heed on how you wish to proceed as the truth is literally a byte away from your face.

Thank you Fritzfricia.

If unemployment around here is rampant it's because the people not working (especially in this town) choose not to. It's easier to sign up for the freebies than go to work like the rest of us that support those who would rather sit around getting wasted all day. They choose not to work in places paying $10 an hour. I'm tired of holding up my end of the rope while the other half sits at the local bar playing Keno.

Great letter to editor, Susan. Thank you.

I couldn't agree more with the comment above.. I've always felt that if you need public assistance that's okay, just a little drug screening and you're good to go. There's no reason people that receive unemployment or assistance shouldn't be able to pass a drug test when the rest of the working class needs to.

Another mistake made is allowing these EBT card abusers to continually use the cards for everything but the items they should be used for.

Wow. The amount of feces pile here is amazing. Not only can't some elites decern their troublesome left from right but they suffer extreme constipation from cranial blockage.

Posted by: desertsky | Aug 30, 2017 16:34

Hardly an elite. I get up and go to work everyday. No trouble discerning

troublesome left..Better to suffer from constipation I guess than a bleeding heart...

Who's picking sides ? Why does it have to be a left vs right thing ?

How about making forward progress ?

While you're at it remind us why Hillary would have been so great for this country ?

One thing I have noticed throughout the arguments on here and elsewhere is that there is little if any mention of Hillary other than by the Trump supporters.  I think that is because the country was forced to choose between two completely useless candidates.  Hillary is off the radar.  Trump is on it.  I, for one, don't think Hillary would have done much, if anything,  for the country.  Don't take that as an endorsement of Trump though.  I am not fond of Trump in any way.  He is a disgusting individual, but he is the President.  My opinion.  My 2 cents.  Probably worth nothing to all the closed minded individuals who will never break their party lines or think with an open mind.
