The Summer of Sound Tower!

By George Dionne | May 30, 2011

The last 10 months have been a blast.  Since our first gig (as the current version of Sound Tower) in August 2010 we have cemented Wareham as our hometown and gone on to conquer and impress many other surrounding towns and venues.  With the summer approaching we have a lot of special and significant shows on the horizon.  We hope at one or two stops along the way you can experience Wareham’s Hottest Cover Band and join the fun.  All shows are equally important throughout the summer, but here are a few of the key ones....

June 4th: Sound Tower debuts at the Rose Alley Ale House (94 Front Street, New Bedford).  We’re been trying to get our foot in the door in New Bedford for months now.  Striker’s inside of Wonder Bowl was our first crack at it, but they didn’t seem very focused on live entertainment in general.  Rose Alley has a great location and if you’re a beer aficionado, they have 50+ craft brews for you to enjoy.  We would love to see a strong Sound Tower Faithful (S.T.F.) presence because this one is a keeper.

June 10th: Sound Tower celebrates our 50th gig! This doesn’t seem like a huge milestone, but when you consider that we’re only been together for ten months, it’s quite the accomplishment.  In addition, the previous version of Sound Tower was together a full year and only played 12-15 gigs at most.  What better place to celebrate than the bar we love to call “home;”  Piper Beau’s (207 Main Street Wareham).  Piper’s is always a sell-out and we promise a special show for this occasion.

July 6th: Sound Tower debuts at the Onset Summer of Love Concert Series (at The Band Shell, Onset Center).  We wanted to play this one for those of you that don’t care for the bar scene, that wanted your kids to see the band, and to play the beautiful outside stage in the middle of summer.  With a bigger stage, this show promises to be like no other.  Bring the kids and join us.

July 23rd: Sound Tower debuts at Home Plate (1094 Bay Street, Taunton).  Taunton is another market we’d love to get into.  It’s a little later in the summer than we had hoped, but as they say, better late than never.  We’re going to make this one special by celebrating the birthday of one of our favorite STF’ers.

July 28th: Concerts in the Park (at the Gazebo, under the train bridge in Bourne).  We were originally set to play this one last year, but due to a line-up shuffle we had to pass.  We are honored to get a second chance to rock this outside show.  Grab a pizza across the street and bring the family for a some great party music.  Thanks to the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce for this one.

August 6th:  Sound Tower’s one year anniversay (right down to the exact date)!  We’re bringing the party to Shooter’s (360 Wareham Street, Middleboro).  A lot of our fans tend to shy away from Shooters, but it’s such a great venue for what we do.  We hope that the STF’ers can join us to show the uninitiated what Sound Tower is all about.

August 12 & 19: Two Fridays back-to-back at the home of Sound Tower, Piper Beau’s!  Like I said before, our shows at Piper’s are filled to capacity, so you now have two chances in the span of a week to get in there.

August 20th: Sound Tower returns to the British Beer Company (2294 State Road, Cedarville).  Unlucky for us, the BBC heard about us after they booked all of 2011.  Fortunatley for us, we’ve been able to grab spots that other bands had to give up for one reason or another.  Mark my words, we’ll be rocking the BBC a lot more in the future.

August 26th: Sound Tower debuts at the Bayside Lounge (125 Sconticut Road, Fairhaven).  We’re looking for ALL the STF’ers to come in force for this one.  There was another bar in Fairhaven that flat out refused to give Sound Tower a chance.  The scoffed at our demo, refused to see us live, and said point blank we’re not going to play there.  Well, Bayside saw things differently.  Let’s show that other bar what they’re missing!

September 11th:  Hog Wild for K9’s Charity Motorcycle Ride at Shooters (360 Wareham Street, Middleboro).  Sound Tower is donating their time for this great event.  All the money raised will go toward outfitting Police K9’s with bullet-proof vests.  The motorcycle run begins late in the morning, and from there the all-you-can-eat BBQ begins.  Demonstrations and activities are also included.  Sound Tower will be sharing the stage with Groove Juice, and at the end of the night, promise an all-star jam for the ages (Groove Tower?).  There’s also a rumor going around that a certain vocalist is going to get into the dunk tank.  Don’t like his pitch or silly humor?  Take your frustrations out at the dunk tank.  Tickets are on sale now HERE
