To the Editor:

Cheri Lindsey is no stranger to making days brighter for people in southeastern Massachusetts. For years, she has sponsored scholarships to enable students to pursue their education and study the arts. An advocate for people with disabilities, Cheri is passionate about supporting people who dedicate their days to people in need. In her nephew’s honor, she founded a scholarship for students majoring in special education.

Owner of the 66 year old landmark Lindsey’s Family Restaurant in East Wareham, Cheri has fostered one of the upper Cape’s most beloved restaurants and recognizable dining destinations. Generations of Cape lovers have flocked to Lindsey’s for their deliciously consistent food and quality service.

Growing up, Cheri’s daughter Debi was very involved with the arts. She performed in many plays at Tabor Academy in Marion and at The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts in Middleboro. Years after Debi graduated, Cheri continued to sponsor students at The Burt Wood School.

Last week, in the spirit of the holiday season, Cheri graciously sponsored a field trip for the Wareham Middle School Drama Club. Directors of club (Jamie Wikston, Kim Bergamini, and Andrea Bridge) were in search of a theatrical experience for the students in their upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz. Jamie was quoted saying, “We believe strongly that participation in the arts as well as exposure to the arts are necessary to be a well educated and cultured student and thespian.”

When asked to become a field trip sponsor, Cheri Lindsey offered to sponsor the entire trip. On Nov. 30 30, the drama club was bused to Middleboro to see The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts production of the musical Elf Jr. at The Alley Theatre. Cheri purchased every ticket to Elf Jr., making this holiday season a bit more merry and bright. Elf Jr. runs though Dec. 10 at The Alley Theater in Middleboro.

Thank you Cheri, for your kind and generous contribution to sponsor the entire field trip for the Drama Club! Also, thank you for ALL of the kind contributions you make every year. These students have had an experience that will last their entire lives. Just one of the many reasons my husband and I frequent your excellent restaurant! Wishing you and your entire family a Merry Christmas, and prosperous New Year!!!
