Fall River, Mass. – Saint Anne’s Hospital today announced that The Leapfrog Group, the nation’s leading nonprofit watchdog on hospital quality and safety, has once again awarded the hospital with an “A” Hospital Safety Grade.

With this spring’s award, Saint Anne’s has achieved straight A’s since the inception of the Safety Grade in 2012. This makes it one of only 63 hospitals nationwide to attain this honor.

“High-quality, safe patient care is a top priority at Saint Anne’s Hospital,” said Michael Bushell, hospital president. “The collective commitment of our staff, physicians and hospital leadership to high standards of care, through education and consistent communication, means that we’re able to implement best practices and troubleshoot challenges as they arise. We’re grateful to have earned the Straight A’s distinction, because it reflects the commitment of our providers and staff to provide not just safe patient care, but also a superior patient experience.”

“Straight ‘A’ hospitals are a rare breed. Not only do they achieve the highest national standards for safety, but they consistently maintain that level of excellence,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “That means that they put the well-being of their patients first, every hour of every day, year after year. We are proud to recognize that tireless commitment.”

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
