A reported gas leak at the Cumberland Farms at 1 Depot St. in East Wareham Monday morning resulted in customers and staff being evacuated until the source of the leak is discovered.

According to emergency broadcasts, the leak was reported just after 9 a.m. with employees saying the odor of gas was strongest in a storeroom.

Fire officials called in National Grid and the town’s gas inspector to investigate the leak. The gas main to the building was turned off, affecting neighboring businesses China Chef and Santoro’s Pizza.

Emergency broadcasts stated that gas lines servicing the plaza must be inspected. Wareham Fire cleared the scene at 10 a.m.

This is one of the few older style Cumbies I think that are left. I hope the gas line, if in need of repair doesn't shut this one down.

Kind of wish they were shut down longer and did some renovations. This store is really a dump and employees smoke right by the door and Red Box. After being closed for the LEAK they can't even remove the stakes and security tape.
