Police arrest 2 in Wareham for drug possession, trafficking

On Thursday, police arrested a Bourne woman and New Bedford man in Wareham for possession of the narcotic Fentanyl, cocaine and for trafficking drugs.

At approximately 2 p.m., Wareham Police Department detectives, Massachusetts Parole Department officers, Falmouth Police Department detectives and Massachusetts State Police searched the Wareham area for former Wareham resident and current New Bedford resident Rory Barrows, age 39, who was wanted for past drug related charges.

At approximately 4 p.m., Barrows was seen as a passenger in a car in the Cranberry Plaza on Route 6 and 28. Detectives noticed a plastic baggie containing approximately 3.5 grams of suspected powdered narcotics and several cell phones.

During a search of Barrows, detectives discovered five individual bags of powder (approximately 12 grams), later identified as Fentanyl, and a bag containing approximately three grams of a substance identified as cocaine.

Detectives and officers at the scene also discovered another two grams of suspected Fentanyl in the immediate area of the operator of the vehicle, 43-year-old Kelli Aflague of Bourne, who was also in possession of $1,456 cash, which was seized as proceeds from the sale of illegal narcotics.

Barrows, of 1757 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Trafficking in Fentanyl
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Substance; Subsequent Offense
  • Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Act

Aflague, of 4 Colonial Road, Buzzards Bay was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Class B Substance (Fentanyl)
  • Conspiracy to Violate the Controlled Substance Act

Both parties were scheduled to be arraigned on the criminal charges Friday at Wareham District Court.
