Moving Wall organizers give thanks for volunteer efforts, donations

Nov 14, 2017

To the Editor:

In the season of thankfulness, the Friends of the Wareham Veterans Council, along with the Wareham Veterans Council, would like to express their heartfelt thank you once again to the many contributors to the Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall appearing in Wareham Aug. 17 - 21. Contributions were received in the form of donations, time, encouragement and the positive feedback we received from everyone.

The involvement of many individuals, groups, businesses, organizations and our children was beyond our expectations. Quite frankly, we were blown away.

We have been moved beyond words by your support for and response to our most important goal: sharing this experience with the towns of Wareham, Bourne, Carver, Middleboro, Marion, Rochester and beyond.

Our mission supporting Veterans continues.

We all should thank the "Friends of Wareham Veterans Council" and their fund raising efforts, which helped to make this Moving Wall Project happen. 100% of the money came solely from private donations and funding events. Not one dime came from Massachusetts taxpayers. And from what I am told, it took close to $50,000 to pull this 4 day event off.  Pretty impressive...... and to add that many of the "Friends"are not veterans, just folks who care deeply about what vets sacrificed for us all.
