A Mississippi woman with nine outstanding arrest warrants was arrested in the Wareham Walmart on Monday after allegedly attempting to steal $477 worth of merchandise from the store.

At 1:30 p.m., Wareham Police Officers Calib Larue and George Chandler responded to Wal-Mart where the shoplifting was in progress. The woman, 51-year-old Rosalind Williams, began running through the store until she was apprehended.

She was placed under arrest and provided a false name and identifications to the police officers until she was transported to the station, where continued investigation led to the discovery of her true identity. Williams is from Tupelo, Mississippi and was visiting family in the area.

Williams had nine outstanding arrest warrants issued with regard to previous felony theft incidents, five of which were issued in Massachusetts, four in Alabama and one in Rhode Island.

Williams has been charged with larceny over $250 as a result of the incident at Wal-Mart and has been held in custody with regard to the outstanding arrest warrants. The out-of-state warrants will each have a charge of fugitive from justice applied to each warrant. She was arraigned at Wareham District Court on Jan. 22.

I'm bursting with a plethora of comments.  But everybody keeps telling me to be nice and not to comment on the appearance of our ridiculously stupid pathetic criminals!

All I can say is that I would have paid to see her running through the store with all those squiggly worms on her head flapping in the wind.  You just can't make this stuff up.

Once again, the magnet is working hard.  Why?  Why here?  She's stealing her way across the country and ends up here.

WBTS; I'll stand in for you. "Looks like she stuck her finger in a light socket."

Man O Man you cant make this stuff up. The magnet is working extra hard these days I can see . What is it that attracts trash like this to Wareham? Sad because there are some really wonderful people in this town and the town gets a label because of trash like this.

You said it Swifts!  The good will always outweigh the bad around here in my eyes.  There are many good people and beautiful places...yet there definitely is a an underbelly to be tolerated to enjoy all the good things like ocean, beaches, ponds, fishing, boating, camping, and the list goes on.  It's the Cape without the traffic & bridges.  Like I've said on here before (and gotten beaten up over) the town slogan should be "Geographically Beautiful yet Demographically Flawed".  They need to add that to the Gateway to Cape Cod sign at the lighthouses.

Speaking of me getting beat up on here.  Although she & I don't always see eye to eye, I think a lot of Andrea Smith and haven't seen any recent comments from her.  Hopefully she's just taking a break.  Andrea, if you are reading please give a response to let us know that you are ok.
