A 30-year-old Brighton man accused of beating, robbing and strangling a woman in Wareham’s Rosewood Motel on Sunday, July 29, is being held on $15,000 cash bail after his recent arrest.

Roland Gervais was arrested in Norfolk by two Wareham Police detectives, one State Police detective and a Walpole detective on Friday, Aug. 10, as a result of an “aggressive investigation,” according to officials. He is charged with unarmed robbery, aggravated assault and battery and strangulation.

While the alleged attack, which was “vicious” and ended with serious injuries to the victim, occurred on July 29, police said the incident wasn’t reported until July 31.

Police said Gervais was identified as a suspect after an investigation and a warrant for his arrest was issued on Aug. 8. Officials said detectives from the three agencies met at the Walpole Police Station on Aug. 10 because Gervais was believed to be in the area. He was located soon after on Barnstable Road in Norfolk.

“As a result of the hard work of our detectives, a suspect was identified, a warrant was obtained, and the suspect was placed under arrest facing very serious felony charges,” said Acting Police Chief John Walcek.

Sounds like drug deal gone wrong. So glad they caught this thug. Chalk up another crime at the Roachwood Motel

This is hardcore bad.  Not average Wareham crap.  Once again, a magnet for miscreants to come here from elsewhere and misbehave.

Hopefully our awesome acting chief will crack down on motels.  Motels have been a bone of contention for years and nothing has improved.  The stay limit is BS.  Everything else has sucked and still sucks about the half dozen or so nasty motels in East Wareham.

Not to sound like a broken record, if I had a bulldozer or a magic wand, the first to go would be the motels!

Rosewood is a marketplace for heroin, crack and prostitution.  Calling "Rosewood" a Motel is a big joke.  Shut that place down.

These Welly Motels need to go ..... nothing good is in any of them ....

When you have vermin in your house you seek and destroy the nests.  Correct?  Everybody knows that the motels are the nests.   Wareham needs to seek and destroy  the motels. Constant police presence, stricter registration requirements, tighter regulations, stay limit reduced to 7 days.

Wareham by the sea,

If you were to really seek out and destroy all the vermin nests there would be no town left. Our entire town is and always has been a magnet for  the worst of the worst. Anyone who thinks the acting chief is going to fix it is delusional. He'll soon lose his gung ho attitude too once he realizes that every thug you take off the street is either back in no time or replaced by another of the same caliber. Im only in this town because of the idiotic generations before me who chose to live here. I can't sell the home I have grown up in for enough money to afford one in a decent town.

Bluebell you should be ashamed. There is so much more to this town that the ugly picture you paint. People like you with the gloom and doom attitude are just as responsible for the way that people view this town. SMH

Bluebell - Yikes!  You know and many others know that I don't like the undesirable things about secret there.  But damn, it's not as bad as you stated!  Geeze!  Get a fishing rod, take a kid clamming, get out in a boat, walk a nature trail, watch the sunset at Little Harbor.  Wareham is an amazingly beautiful place.  At least enjoy that.

Bluebell, I feel your pain, so many have left at a loss or having to rent out their homes to escape which only creates more nests. Hopefully the chief retains that fire and torments these losers out of Town. people inviting these types in have to be held accountable too. It may make them feel good to help the homeless , low income folks and drug rehabs but it hurts the character of the Town and its people more so much than they think. Losers need to be purged and not catered to anymore. Schools need to put the hammer down on these punk kids that need a whallop instaed of coddling. If the parents don't like it so be it, they get a wahllop too.
