September is here and the kids are back in school; the Wareham Village Association invites you to visit Main Street and patronize our local businesses while you come and go through town.  Merchants are participating in a third “Main Street Madness” designed to entice visitors with raffles, prizes, and discounts from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday September 21.

Joining Main Street Madness in September is Linda Pierce from Back Door Gallery, a new Main Street business located at 137 Main St.  Ms. Pierce will raffle an original oil painting.  Stop in to see her new gallery via the Merchant’s Way entrance.  The winner of the Wareham Village Association raffle for Frosty’s Christmas Train will be drawn at 5pm on September 21, winner need not be present.  This item has a value of $60 for (4) tickets on the run of your choice, November 24 or 25.  Raffle tickets will be available at the Wareham Village Association office, 245 Main St. along with the new line of Townwear.

Participating business include Irene’s Flower Shop, Matrix Salon, Gourmet and Gourmand, Frankenstein’s, Looks Unlimited, Pipers Restaurant, Wize Guyz Pizzeriaz, Cranberry Coast Concerts, TD Bank, Sail Away Studio, Tropical Tan, Old Company Store and Jacks R Wild! All visitors enjoyed free pizza from Minerva’s at Eastern Bank with face painting and storytelling for the children. Demetrios Kalkanis, proprietor of Minerva Pizza says, “Our business distributed 600 slices of free pizza on August 24 at Eastern Bank, and we invite customers back for more in September.”

Said Rose Berry, Wareham Village Association Board member coordinating Main Street Madness, and Eastern Bank branch manager: “We hope to see more and more people patronizing local businesses in downtown Wareham; it may be a slow process, but with small steps and everyone working together we anticipate this week’s “Madness” to be even more fun, more active, and more on our way to revitalizing our Main Street commercial activity.”

The final Main Street Madness event of the season will be held on October 26; new ideas and suggestions are welcome at or by leaving a message at 508.291.3677.
