Hong Kong Island demolished to make way for parking lot

The demolition of the former Hong Kong Island Chinese restaurant began this week, paving the way for the next door Water Wizz to offer more parking to patrons.

The construction should be done within the next two weeks, said Rebecca Kells, the general manager of the water park.

A parking lot with around 80 spots will mean Water Wizz has to rent fewer parking spaces from other nearby businesses.

Kells said there are no current plans to expand the water park itself, though internal work, such as adding new lawn furniture, has been done to prepare for the summer season.

Kells said Hong Kong Island, located at 3035 Cranberry Hwy, was ready to close its doors and be torn down.

“If you saw what that placed looked like inside, you would have been horrified,” Kells said.

Water Wizz opens for the season this Saturday.

Seems to be the standard business model for Chinese restaurants in this town.

Where did all those scorpion bowls and the Buda glasses go ? I gave up on the restaurant a few years ago for reasons I won't list, so it's not surprising to hear the conditions inside were deplorable.

Hopefully the water wizz finds a way to regulate the traffic coming in and out of the lot. They have done a decent job so far. Possibly this will help them regulate the flow of traffic into and out of their facility onto route 28 and make it a bit easier and safer.

Who has dibs on the sign ? I'd love to have those cheesy palm trees !!!

“If you saw what that placed looked like inside, you would have been horrified,” Kells said   Lets look at the bright side our Board of Health has suppressed private business, unilaterally has taken away residents freedoms, set arbitrary price controls and sent business to other Towns with their PC agenda on flavored tobacco. Meanwhile the general public is being served from kitchens that are in horrifying conditions. This is a dereliction of duty. They need to be removed and everything they have done repealed.

"Two people watch as a crane tears down the Hong Kong Island Restaurant to make way for a new Water Wizz parking lot" I didn't see a crane, however that would have been awesome. Glad its going to be a parking lot and not another car dealership.      As far as the board of health goes, they are doing the best they can. They have there eyes open and will handle all that has to be done. Lets make a better Wareham, together!

Am I understanding correctly that this will just provide alternative parking and not add more space for parking?  I'm hoping so, but if this is additional space that will bring more people into the park, I'll spread the word about additional wait time for the slides.
