The Wareham Vikings boys basketball team defeated Fairhaven 66-51, bringing their record in the South Coast Conference (SCC) to 10-0.

Darien Fernandez shows no signs of slowing down, notching his 1225 career point last night to become the highest scoring Viking in boys basketball history at Wareham High School.

Fernandez didn't even realize that he was on the verge of breaking the school record. “We went to the time out and my couch said ‘congratulations,’ and I said what for?”

Once the coach told him how close he was to breaking the record, the pressure was on.

"I was like 'oh no, now I’m going to miss some'," Fernandez joked.

With a lot of basketball left to play, Fernandez has time to add even more points to his impressive record.

The Lady Vikings fell to Fairhaven, 57-46, bringing their record to 6-5 in the SCC.

Next up, the Lady Vikings will take on Case at home, while the boys go on the road and play Case on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Both games begin at 6:30 p.m.
