A 48-year-old East Wareham man is facing a charge of armed robbery after he allegedly held up a Cranberry Highway gas station at knifepoint and then fled into a wooded area.

Christopher Baker was found hiding in brush behind Cape Cod Gas Station, located at 3037 Cranberry Highway on Dec. 21 after robbing the store at approximately 6:30 p.m., police said.

Baker is said to have demanded money from the cashier while wearing a mask. Police said the employee handed over an undetermined amount of cash and was not injured.

While searching the area, Officer Calib Larue found a piece of clothing that the suspect was said to be wearing. Police K-9 Rolf was called in and within minutes found Baker hiding in brush nearby with the stolen cash. Police noted this was the second felony arrest Rolf assisted with in the past 10 days.

Baker was taken to the Wareham Police Department and held without bail before arraignment in Wareham District Court. In addition to armed robbery, Baker was charged with intimidation of a witness.

Great job Rolf! Worth your weight in kibble!

Looks like the magnet is back on line.  The lull has certainly ended.  I know I told you all I was going to tone it down and stop using a certain word.  Well I just can't contain myself.  This is the epitomy of Warehamy.  Classic candidate for a dumbest criminal award!

I'm sure someone will try to justify it and defend him.

Awesome work WPD and Rolf.  Like I said last week, they're weeding them out!  Keep it up.  I feel a little bit safer after each of these arrests.

I can't see how anyone could defend an armed robber, WBTS. I think what most people take issue with is when you focus on the personal features of people which you did not do here. So, I think you are still toning it down a bit although, as you know, I strongly despise the word Warehamy.

I wish you, and everyone else that comments on this site, a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

"Warehamy" is a terrible, inclusive slur that paints us all, our kids, our achievers, do-gooders with a broad brush. You should stop using this label WBTS it's offensive.

So glad they caught this thug.

Arch & Joe, I know...I know...but you too just used it too...haha.  It's like trying to teach a child not to use a swearword without repeating the swearword.  Hey, wait...I just compared myself to a child.  Anyways, I get it.  I know.  It does paint all of Wareham with a broad brush in a way.  But those that understand can see how spot on it is to describe these "types" that unfortunately are drawn to, congregate, and misbehave here.

Self attention seeking much WBTS? Each of your posts generates a chance for you to fill your response with "I" statements. You, your, "I"... Good luck with that.

Nope, not attention seeking...just having fun.  I read the comments and comment on here because it is interesting and entertaining.  Thats all, I choose participate because I enjoy it.  By the same token, you don't have to read comments that you do not enjoy or find offensive.

WBTS How can I choose not to read comments that I would find offense without actually reading them?

WBTS had no personal comments on the appearance. I find that to be a positive change. Thanks Merry Christmas to all!

Nope, Sammie, no personal comment on his appearance.  He simply looks dejected.  One has to wonder why he did what he did and what he was thinking about as that mugshot was taken.

If the shoe fits wear it .... Merry Christmas

I don't like WBTS's  "Warehamy" either.  But I had the same thought, in his last post.  I wish there was a way to find out why he and others do it.  It isn't always drugs, so is it to pay the rent, buy food? There are jobs out there, so the transportation in town doesn't get him close enough?  I don't know this guy or WBTS, but I always wonder how the "thugs" were raised and what happened to them to get them this way.

Put him in the service, that will straighten him out and others like him.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all, yes even the Thugs. I hope that you take this special time to look within yourselves and determine its time to change your ways. There is help out there if you want it and with economy as it is there are jobs and a new hope to live a honest and clean life.

TOOTTOOT1    The military doesn't work like that anymore.   Sometimes a judge will order it, but only if it's someone he thinks would change for the better.   My son's Recruitment Officer told me this only a few years ago.

Merry Christmas to everyone and smile!
