They are some lean, green climate-change fighting machines.

The Eastern Massachusetts Climate Summer Team took its awareness-raising bike ride through Wareham on Wednesday, August 7, stopping at the Onset Pier to talk to state Senator Marc Pacheco.

Climate Summer is a New England-wide program that aims to help young adults learn leadership skills. Through multi-town bike rides, participants are hoping to raise awareness about the need to switch from fossil fuels to renewable sources.

They started in Lexington on June 24, and will wrap up their trip in the mid-Cape around August 16.

Pacheco serves as chairman to the Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change, and was happy to meet with the budding environmentalists in an effort to raise awareness.

"When I heard you guys were down here and wanted to see me, I can't tell you how excited I was," said Pacheco.

Noting that poor countries will suffer first and most when finite resources become more and more hard to come by, Pacheco said: "We have to act more as citizens of the world."

"We definitely show the perspective, as we go, that it's going to take people working together," to solve a problem as big as the planet, according to Outreach Coordinator Jordan Mlsna. "We want to move away from deadly energy sources, like coal, to wind."

Pacheco said that in addition to creating jobs, he believes the alternative energy industry will, in the long run, lead to better health for the populace and a better economy.

Pacheco said that Massachusetts sets a good example for the rest of the nation in terms of protecting the environment — but we can always do better.

"I think we can double down," Pacheco says. "We're a national leader, and we need to do more than we've already done."

Obama and Deval should have thought of the "Citizens of THIS Country" before "investing" aka squandering countless millions on useless green energy companies run by their crooked friends.
