Board of Health fines Wareham tattoo artist for operating without license

Jul 19, 2017

The Board of Health on Wednesday fined a Wareham tattoo artist $275 for operating without a license.

The artist, Adam Marczak, owns and operates Inskane Art Tattoo at 3202 Cranberry Highway. He started apprenticing as a tattoo artist in Wareham over 10 years ago and has been at the store’s Cranberry Highway location since 2014.

At the board’s meeting, he explained that the license, which must be renewed each year, lapsed due to financial troubles.

“It was a financial issue,” said Marczak. “There was no deception.”

Because Marczak was working without a license for the past few months, board members had the option of collecting a $425 fine in addition to a $275 relicensing fee for the business and a $150 for his tattoo artist license. However, board members allowed Marczak to pay just a $275 fine over the course of the next three months.

Marczak said he would pay the license renewal fees early next week. After that, he will be allowed to reopen the business.

The power mongering BOH strikes again to ruin another business in Town.

Have to disagree on that Sphere. There's a reason tattoo artists need to be licensed and his excuse is lame.

Operating a business without a proper licence on Cranberry Highway. I think we have heard this story before. I wonder how many second hand dealers have applied for and taken out licenses.  I Have not read any stories about folks coming before the Board with their request. Maybe I missed that story.

too bad the b.o.h. didn't work out some type of deal like this for the gas station and its cigars.

momof2 - I don't know if that excuse is lame, after all he is paying rent for property in one of the ANGUS'S compounds.

why do hairdressers go to school ($), have to pay the state for an exam ($) and pay the state ($) every other yr. to stay licensed.  I believe it's  less than 125-100$ every other year.

a tattoo artist, with a God given talent, has to pay wareham 150$ every year, and it's not a place the boh goes to with a white glove, beauty salons either.  what about the nail businesses, where are the gloves the tattoo artists have to use?
