Wareham Detectives searched a Gatehouse Drive apartment on Oct. 11 and arrested three people, finding illegal drugs and a hidden gun and ammunition, police said.

Louis Andrade, 46, of 223 Gatehouse Drive is facing a litany of weapon and drug charges following the search. Police said the search uncovered 9mm ammunition inside a sneaker and an unloaded 9mm handgun with an attached clip containing seven rounds inside the apartment’s air conditioning duct.

According to police, the search started after two women were arrested, 40-year-old Mellissa MacDonald of 223 Gatehouse Drive and 53-year-old Laura Alden of 27 Deseret Drive, Buzzards Bay.

MacDonald left the apartment prior to the search and met with Alden in a nearby parking lot. MacDonald, who had a warrant out for her arrest, was taken into custody. Police said she had a plastic bag containing what appeared to be crack cocaine.

Drug dealers should be put on chain gangs.

We were due...For about two weeks I kept checking to make sure I wasn't reading Sippican Week by accident! There have been no Warehamy stories like this.  It was so nice, wasn't it?  I figured that maybe things were starting to improve.  Nope, I was very wrong!  We've got this doozie to make up for lost time. What a fugly trio!

I knew that the Gatehouse Drive complex was just going to turn into another festering hell hole like the others in town.  When is was proposed they said it would be nicer and not another Woods of Wareham. Guess they lied. They let these two in.  Plus it has been going downhill over the years in general. They need to rename it "Woods of Wareham by the Pond".

These three just need some tough love and help with there disease ......

Let me guess, I'm thinking that its Melissa McDonalds apartment. I'm also thinking that its subsidized section 8 apartment. I'm also thinking that Andrade is there sponging and layin up in the crib selling drugs and keeping Melissa stoned out of her mind so she puts up with his lazy ass. There are probably 30% of those apartments in a similar situation. LOW INCOME HOUSING BRINGS NOTHING BUT TROUBLE TO WAREHAM.

I would vote yes to a town law that booted garbage like this out of Wareham. It wouldn't be perfect but it would sure help.

Great job Wareham P.D.!

Second, as a landlord I have seen MANY renters who are on Sec. 8 who are nice, normal people who simply make crap for pay (yes, most work) and are just plain poor.  Unfortunately, we only hear about the scumbags like these.

Being a Dirtbag is a disease?

S_S, It's hard to tell if that comment about tough love and disease was intended to be facetious.  I hope it was because there is no reason for anyone to be defending these three. It's scary to know these types are living among us.

Tough love is for young people and those that have a chance or even a glimmer of hope.  This hardcore trio is 40, 46, and 53.  Too late, no hope for them. They need to be eradicated, not rehabilitated.

Disease, what disease?  Where is there anything in this story about disease? I know that some have tried to associate disease with addiction but that's not what this story is about.  This story is about dangerous criminals that got caught with drugs and a gun.

It was great to hear that the trio got caught...but they'll be out soon. Too bad Andrade didn't try something stupid with his gun. That way the WPD could have really given this story a happy ending.

Years ago someone had the bright idea to associate alcoholism and drug dependency with the word disease. In fact I knew a guy that was on disability due to his alcoholic disease.

That's clearly not the issue here..
