Laughing all the way to the library

Comedy, said comic Aimee Schwab, is kind of like reverse therapy.

“You have to listen to all my problems, and I get paid,” she quipped.

On Saturday, May 4, it was the Wareham Free Library that earned the money brought in with people’s laughter.

The Wareham Library Foundation hosted the comedy night in partnership with Funny 4 Funds, an organization that helps host comedy fundraisers.

Foundation President Eileen Scully said it’s the organization’s third year running the event. The first year, it sold around 100 tickets. This year, it sold around 140.

“It just keeps getting better,” she said.

The fundraiser brought in $4,775 to support the foundation’s work. Scully said the foundation funds 20% of the library’s operating budget, and that last year, it supported renovations to the library and part time staff.

The Wareham Free Library in a statement thanked “all who came out to support the Wareham Library Foundation as their efforts support the library and our work in the community.”
