International conference the destination for seven DECA students

Mar 26, 2024

With over 100 schools attending Massachusetts DECA’s State Conference, Wareham High School DECA members were able to display their proficiency across all business domains. Seven Wareham High School students will attend DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California this April.

“This is everyone’s end game at DECA,” said advisor Lisa Cunha. The international conference gives students the opportunity to network with 22,000 students from around the world, giving them a “lifetime experience” and an opportunity for leadership growth.

Charlotte Roy will attend the conference as a state finalist in the marketing communications series category.

The Clifford Sylvia school store, also known as a Viking Ship, achieved a gold re-certification in school based enterprise for retail operations thanks to students Kailee Rose and Maria Vilas Boas and Cunha’s guidance, earning the students a spot in the International Conference.

Wareham DECA also earned four leadership spots through winning campaigns, with two spots from winning the Chapter Campaign and two from winning the Membership Campaign. Students Stoney Ferry, Taj Lewin-Pina, Hannah Milne and Woody Salem will attend the conference with these spots to take part in the emerging leaders series, which enables DECA members to gain knowledge and develop leadership abilities through seminars.
