Arts at Stone Church, a program at First Congregational Church at 11 Gibbs Avenue, joins with local artists to highlight the wide array of artists who work hard to create and present art in many forms.

The spring season of the Arts at Stone Church’s “Stone Church Café” opens in the church’s Groezinger Room on Tuesday, March 12, at 6:30 with free food and free entertainment — though donations are welcomed.

The café is an informal monthly introduction to the wide array of art found on the Southcoast. Each month features a different artist or art form. This month’s café features Mattapoisett resident Jeff Dunn, guest pianist of First Congregational Church and a well-known Southcoast performer. From familiar ballads to rockin’ blues to contemporary songs to gospel music, Jeff will hold the audience’s attention with a vast collection of music. In addition to being a pianist and singer, Jeff is a composer.

Arts at Stone Church, named for the church’s well-known stone exterior, partners with musicians, actors, poets, dancers, performers, scriptwriters, photographers, painters, printmakers, magicians, puppeteers, to introduce Southcoast neighbors to one another and to a wide range of local and regional emerging and experienced artists. The café is supported by the contributions of the time and talent of local artists, the members of First Congregational Church, and local individuals and businesses.

The evening begins with a light meal at 6:30, followed by a performance at 7:30. Doors open at 6:15pm.

Southcoast artists and friends of any age or experience can sign up to perform by contacting the church office or emailing blueheronstudio@verizon.net The next Stone Church Café is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16.
