A group of seven 4th graders from Minot Forest Elementary and Decas Elementary won second place at the regional "Destination ImagiNation" competition held on March 11 at the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.

Destination ImagiNation is an educational program that teaches students "creativity, teamwork, and problem solving," according to www.idodi.org, and reaches more than 125,000 students in the U.S. and more than 30 countries.

With team manager Susan Dorry-Nyman, the Wareham students committed every Sunday afternoon since early January to creating a solar power prototype for the competition, a project which took the understanding of the complex science behind solar energy.

So proud and happy for everyone involved.

The kids and Susan did really work their butts off for this. Toward the last month, they were meeting on both Fridays and Sundays.

On the big day, they had to be there at 8:30 in the morning and I don't think they left until 6:30 at night after the awards ceramony.
