An organization that prides itself on giving veterans “a hand up, not a hand out” recently received an assist from the Wareham/New Bedford Lodge of Elks #73.

On April 21, the Veterans Transition House of New Bedford were given a new washing machine courtesy of the Elks.

After shopping around, Past Veterans Chairman Ted Hatch visited Lowe’s Home Improvement in Wareham and purchased the washing machine with the help of a $100 discount from the store.

The Elks thanked Lowe’s for the support and noted that the washing machine will play an important role in the Veterans Transition Home’s operations.
