Police department's accreditation in question ????

By wakeupwareham | Sep 20, 2016

Can we bring back Chief Stanley???  When he first came to town he completely rebuilt the department and was so aggressive with Grants, community programs, crime prevention, and equipment. He was extremely transparent and always communicated with the public. He single handedly converted a outdated department to a state of the art law Enforcement Agency.  Since he left almost everything he had accomplished has been undone and we are now going backwards again.   The Department leadership is non existent and I am told things have never been worse.  We have multiple disputes and complaints by officers against the Chief, including one that has required a special investigation to be conducted. There are multiple officers out on Administrative Leave, many unfilled positions, Accreditation not kept up to date and in jeopardy of being lost after a huge financial investment from the town.  Grants have been lost for not being filed properly or timely, including one very important grant that would have provided Narcan kits in all the cruisers to help fight the horrible drug problem that is killing so many people.  All these issues are being shielded from the public and we all need to get involved and demand transparency on what is going on within the department. It seems to me that it is a runaway train and nobody is paying attention.

What year was accreditation received? When is the accreditation due to expire? What process is necessary in order for the accreditation to be extended beyond the expiration date? How long might completion of that process take?

All I read into this is a bunch of accusations with no proof or fact to back any of it up.  All written under an assumed name. Chief Stanley was the WORST chief this town has ever seen!

I loved Chief Stanley. Do these police accreditations actually count for something or are they stupid/phoney/bs ones like the Massachusetts library board not giving accreditation to Wareham's library because it did not receive enough budgetary support from the town. You would think the Mass Library Board would HELP struggling libraries in poor towns instead of punishing them by cutting them out of the SAILS borrowing program. More information please. Perhaps the police are too busy catching the same 200 criminals over and over again, only to see them get released back on the streets by our useless judges. Thanks for nuthin' Wareham Courts!

Peaches I agree with you . What people don't  understand is that with many of those grants the town has to come up with their share of the money to keep it going . If they don't have the money why apply for the grant ? Hope all is well !!

I personally don't think having Narcan is of importance,it just gives the user a free chance over and over and over.

Careful, Lifer.  Expecting personal responsibility is hate speech in this town.

Yeah, To heck with Narcan.  While we are at it lets stop treating smokers with lung cancer and drinkers with liver damage.   They knew what they were getting into.  Personal responsibility,  Right?

Michelle, If you didn't like Chief Stanley, then perhaps you don't understand what he stood for and how much he helped this town.  Don't be so quick to judge someone unless you have walked a few miles in his shoes!
