Gee,I hope the town is charging the State Senator, for the use of the town hall room.......

Why would they charge him? Town Hall will be open for that one hour anyways and it belongs to the people. Also, he is a State Senator which makes him a Government official. A Town Hall is owned by the public.  It's not the BOS building or the TA building, it's the public's building, and traditionally, it's a place where people come to express themselves. People would complain when they can't talk to their Officials and complain when they can.  It sure sounds like Wareham.

Although I do know why you made the statement.

He is a State official, not a Town official. The space he and his State business occupies is space that cannot be used by the Town for its business. Some of this business may include organizing campaign workers and  tactics and should not be done at the expense of Wareham's taxpayers. He should get his own office elsewhere to conduct meetings. He could rent the nail factory. I know why you made your statement Zipper

I'm sure senator Pacheco will give the the town a generous donation!

Susan Gifford has an office on Main St.  Why is Pacheco getting to use the townhall space at all. He should also get an office all his own and not at Warehams expense.

Don't you think it's unreasonable for a Senator to rent a space in every town he represents?

Posted by: Zephyr | Oct 07, 2016 14:54

Susan Gifford is only a state rep that covers our area. Marc Pacheco is a Senate member for ALL of Massachusetts. And by the way, he does have a district office which is located at 8 Trescott Street, Suite 1
Taunton, MA.  He also holds office hours for his constituents every Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at that office.  A lot of people can't make it to the Taunton office so it's nice that he is coming to Wareham.  Through the years we have had many many Government officials come to our town hall so I don't know what the big deal is unless you're a Republican and hate him because he is a Democrat.

Perhaps he can get space at the dispensary when they open. He probably has part of the action there and most of his voters will be there at some point or another. Most of the "progressive" platform was formed by those under the influence of something. There will be a ready supply available to induce the "progressive" state of mind there to further tweek the platform..

ZEPHYR,State Senator Pacheco, does not technical represent all of Mass.He has a district as Rep.Gifford has.....If he can use space why not any political group or any organization have the same privilege....

Posted by: barnstorm | Oct 08, 2016 11:25

Double standard as always......One set of rules for Republicans that the Democrats disregard and get away with, always! "Pacheco is a Senate member for All of Massachusetts"??? That ignorant statement should disqualify a person from voting! Pacheco is a State Senator representing the Bristol/ Plymouth District only!!!!

Posted by: Zephyr | Oct 08, 2016 21:00

You both are correct.  Sorry about that.  You're both Republicans so I wont say anything else.
