NBSO Announces Changes to Board and Advisory Council
The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra announces the appointment of Edward Ottensmeyer to its Board of Trustees. “Ed brings talent, energy and enthusiasm to the NBSO. We are very fortunate to have him join us as we continue to build a community of music here in South Coast,” David Prentiss, President & CEO.
Mr. Ottensmeyer is Dean Emeritus of Clark University's Graduate School of Management. He earned MBA and Ph.D. degrees in business from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He served on the business school faculties of Penn State and the University of Denver prior to joining the Clark faculty and has served as a consultant to both private corporations and U.S. government agencies, including the Economic Development Administration and the Department of Education.
In addition, Sandria R. Parsons has been elected Chair of the Board of Trustees. Ms. Parsons has served on the board for 15 years and is co-founder of Learning Network Associates, Inc., whose recently completed documentary film “Passion to Teach” showcases self-directed learning, teacher leadership, and parent activism in the renewal of public education. “Sandria’s passionate commitment to the NBSO will serve us well as we embark on the next 100 years, beginning with this season’s search for a new music director,“ said outgoing board chair Terry Wolkowicz. The NBSO would like to thank Ms. Wolkowicz for her leadership and continued support of the NBSO as she continues in her position as NBSO Education Director.
Frances Levin and Barry Steinberg have been named to the NBSO’s Advisory Council. “Ms. Levin and Mr. Steinberg are both active and engaged in the community, and we are excited that they will share their passion for music with the NBSO,” said Chair Sandria Parsons.
