Emergency Response

By Twiceburnt007 | Feb 27, 2017

In the parking lot of CVS on main st one day last week, I had fallen asleep while waiting for some-one picking up prescriptions. A passer-bye apparently noticed that I was not awake and called 911 ! I was woken up by the tapping on my window and a police officer asking if I was ok. I was quite surprised to see the officer looking in and even more surprised to see that I was surrounded by a half-dozen emergency vehicles. I would like to thank the person who made the phone call and the individuals who quickly  responded . I felt safe and secure as I fell back asleep in that Main street , Wareham parking lot that warm sunny afternoon !

It's unfortunate that your cat nap was cut short, but with the opiate epidemic or pandemic it's far too common that people are overdosing in vehicles, in public bathrooms, even at the bar. I'm sure that's the thought process in the initial caller's head.

Twiceburnt, I am glad that you are OK and it is reassuring that our emergency personnel respond quickly and do such a great job.

However, it isn't cheap to send out a half dozen emergency vehicles.  The person that made the phonecall could have just tapped on your window themselves to see if you were OK.  That would have avoided the big production and expense of it all.  Good thing they didn't come back and call again when you fell back asleep.

Great response by Wareham's finest. I say better safe than sorry. You can't put a price on someone's life. So glad you're ok, and the situation was handled properly.
