Though the official start for the Scarecrow Festival is on Oct. 17, there are already straw guardians lined up along Main Street.

The scarecrows are early for the annual festival, hosted by the Onset Bay Association.

The festival lasts from Oct. 17 to 31. Groups and individuals can build their own scarecrow and be a part of the festivities along Onset Avenue and Main Street until Halloween.

Prizes will be awarded in three categories: three categories: business, club/organization, family/individual. Judging will be conducted by the Wareham Garden Club and The Onset Bay Association Beautification Committee.

Applications are available at the OBA office at 4 Union Ave in Onset or online at www.warehamvillage.org. For more information, call 508-725-2657.
